Founded by Masdar and the Zayed Sustainability Prize in 2015, the Women in Sustainability, Environment and Renewable Energy (WiSER), is a bold, action-oriented initiative that strives to position women and girls of all nationalities as drivers of change and innovation, while ensuring that their voices are heard across the sustainability debate – whether on issues of policy, technology or business.
The year-long platform is founded on the three core pillars of education, engagement and empowerment. At its heart, WiSER aspires to empower women with real-world experience to succeed in all sectors of the sustainability industry, and to become genuine sustainability leaders.
During ADSW, WiSER holds its annual WiSER Forum, where influential women from around the world are invited to share their experience and expertise in pursuing a career in the sustainability industry. The 2019 edition of the annual WiSER Forum was held under the theme of ‘The Role of Women in Advancing the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),’ and will included an interactive panel followed by focused roundtable discussions with sustainability experts, industry leaders and young women.
The Forum was held on 16 January 2019 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
