Involving local communities in the global economy needs to go hand in hand with addressing climate challenges in Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, President of Uganda, commented in the latest episode of ADSW Talks. Integrating people into the "money economy" in a smarter, more sustainable way, he said, is foundational for effective conservation and climate action. “We must conserve the environment as we transform.”
The President discussed Uganda’s commitment to transitioning to cleaner energy sources as part of its sustainable development journey, from harnessing solar power to exploring wind, hydro and biogas alternatives. Highlighting Abu Dhabi’s pioneering work in reducing costs and making solar power a feasible energy solution for Uganda and similar countries in Africa, the President discussed Uganda’s plans to modernize through clean energy and leapfrog traditional development paths to pursue a sustainable, industrialized future.
